Machinists

Hockmeyer Equipment has an immediate need for an experienced qualified Machinist to join  our team in Elizabeth City, NC! 

The Machinists will be responsible for creating machine parts and tools using precision computer  and manual equipment. 

Responsibilities: 

• Operate and maintain lathes, drill press, and milling equipment. 
• Ability to read drawings and use layout techniques to produce machined parts to fit and assemble into complete units. 
• Will set up, adjust, and maintain conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. 
• Accurately measure dimensions reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. 

Qualifications and skills: 

• 3 - 5 years of Machinist experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. • Possess problem-solving and mechanical skills, have good eye-hand coordination, strong math skills, and the ability to stand for long periods of time. 
• Detail-oriented individual who can work with little supervision. 
• Must be able to operate manual and CNC equipment. CNC equipment will need operators who understand CAD technology. Experience on the Mazak & HAAS a plus. • Must have basic tools such as micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators. • Required to safely operate all machinery and equipment and can lift to 50 lbs. • Work hours: M – F 7:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. plus OT 

Successful completion of Machinist program preferred.
