The Village of Unadilla is accepting applications for a Winter Seasonal Public Works Laborer (December 1st through March 31st). Experience in general maintenance, minor repairs, heavy equipment, dump truck, backhoe and tractor are desired. This position includes all aspects of a municipal public works department, including but not limited to, snow plowing and maintenance of Village facilities. Mechanical experience desirable. Must possess high school diploma or GED. Post offers physical drug/background screens required. A Public Works Laborer plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving community infrastructure. Responsibilities include performing physical tasks such as digging, grading, and backfilling to support the construction and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, and other public structures. The position involves operating and maintaining various hand and power tools, as well as heavy machinery such as bulldozers and compactors. Public Works Laborers may assist in repairing sewer systems, installing stormwater drainage, and maintaining public spaces. Attention to safety protocols is paramount, ensuring a secure work environment for oneself and the team. The role requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals. Public Works Laborers contribute to the overall functionality and aesthetics of the community by ensuring that public infrastructure is well-maintained and meets the highest standards of safety and quality.
